Michael Chapman

Mr. Chapman is a Senior Vice President of Kelson Energy, leading Kelson’s asset management engagements.  Currently he serves as the President of Dogwood Power Management—the management company which manages the 650-MW Dogwood Energy Facility on behalf of Dogwood’s ownership group. Previously Mr. Chapman was the General Manager of the 1,100 MW Sundevil Power facility and the 968 MW Magnolia Energy facility.   Mr. Chapman led Magnolia through a Chapter 11 restructuring and created and implemented a successful strategy to secure transmission and clear Magnolia as a capacity resource into the PJM RPM market, followed ultimately by Kelson’s sale of the facility to TVA in 2011.  Mr. Chapman was also President and General Manager of Kelson Canada’s King City business unit that owned a 120-MW California cogeneration facility through its sale to GE in 2010.   During the 2003-2005 period, Mr. Chapman served as the asset manager of the 515-MW Attala Energy Facility through its sale to Entergy, working on behalf of the lender group that took over ownership in a foreclosure proceeding.   Prior to joining Kelson in 2003, Mr. Chapman held senior positions with Orion Power Holdings and Columbia Electric.  Mr. Chapman holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Tech and is a Professional Engineer in Virginia.
